No.9606 : Anonymous [12/04/22(Sun)06:57] [Report] [SNAP]

Hi, I want to start HRT but I'm too embarrassed to tell my doctor. Does anyone know of something in store or a food you can eat/take? Thanks.

Don't believe anything you hear about herbal supplements working, for most people they're a waste of time. For the few people that they work for, there is likely something else going on. The cost for supplements is going to start around half of the cost for hormones anyway, so you might as well put the money towards the most effective solution.

If you are serious about HRT, go see a gender therapist. If your medical system follows the Standards of Care, you can't be proscribed hormones without a note from a therapist. If you live near a large city, there may be a transgender health clinic or resource center where you can get more information on what you need to do. If you are at college, check for support groups and see what resources are available through the school.

You need to get over your fear of talking to a doctor. If you are too embarrassed to talk to someone while protected by patient privacy protection laws, how are you going to cope with people realizing once the HRT starts to make changes?
